Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Principal Electrical Test Engineer – Level 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Leads and develops an expert understanding of your assigned subsystems and payloads. This role requires a solid foundation and understanding of testing in the IT&L environment.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints
  • Utilizes test infrastructure to dry run and execute system level verification.
  • Role entails collaboration with various disciplines at the element, subsystems, and unit level through multiple working groups to refine requirements & verification, interfaces, test equipment and test methodology.
  • Leads a team and performs troubleshooting and resolution of HW/SW configuration issues on systems to resolve issues related to system functionality
  • Generates test products and automated test scripts for System Level Testing
  • Adheres to and maintains processes and procedures for the assembly integration and test of space vehicles
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 1 year of professional experience.
  • Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
  • Experience with Integration and Test campaigns
  • Experience with Telemetry, Tracking & Commanding Subsystem
  • Willing and able to travel offsite to Gilbert, AZ as needed.
  • Experience in test script development
  • Experience in leading a technical team
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance
  • Willing and able to support multiple shifts and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Electrical Ground Support Equipment software including PCOS and Raptor
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of spacecraft production processes and procedures
  • Possess strong leadership qualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Electrical Integration & Test team experience
  • Ability to operate in a large Integration and Test environment with multiple disciplines
  • Ability to function as a member of a large team
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, RF Test Equipment, RF and DC cables
  • Experience with payload subsystems: Comm Payload, Mission Payload, IN-Band and Out of Band Command & Data Handling
  • Experience with Test Sets associated with Comm Payloads
  • Experience troubleshooting anomalous hardware and software
  • Basic Programming Skills in one or more of these areas: Python, C, Matlab, Excel

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
