Product Designer, Product Layer of the CTRM System

Read this part first

A lot of designers can draw a beautiful dense interface. Very few can stand in a room with a trader who has done the job for twenty years, an executive sponsor with strong aesthetic opinions and no daily use of the product, and a delivery date — and come out with a decision that holds.

The second thing is the job. You own the design system for this platform: you build it, you decide its rules, and you defend it to business people who will regularly tell you they wanted something else. Sometimes you will hold the line. Sometimes they will be right and you will change it in the room. Knowing which is which is the skill we are hiring for.

If you are looking for a seat where the system is handed to you and you produce screens inside it, this is the wrong posting.

The product

We are building the system an international oil-products trader will run its business on: the full deal lifecycle from contract to settlement. Pricing against Platts and Argus formulas, costs accumulating across vessels, rail, trucks and storage, invoicing, inventory, losses, claims, hedging. The point of the whole thing is that anyone can reconstruct the P&L between any two points of the chain, at any moment.

Real money moves on the numbers it produces. Most of the code is written by coding agents; our constraint is design and decision-making, not delivery capacity.

The users are traders, operators, economists, financiers, logistics and shipping people, inspectors, and executives. Six of those roles look at the same cargo and need to see almost entirely different things.

What you will actually design

- Role workplaces — dense, fast, single-screen: positions, exposure, where every cargo physically is, what was earned and lost

- P&L broken down across a matrix — by deal, vessel, lot, counterparty, company, project — where the same number has to reconcile in every direction

- Movement over time — routes, vessels, rail, storage, the state of a shipment on a given date, and what a cost looked like before the actuals arrived

- Cost structures that aggregate up a chain and have to stay legible as they do

- Contract and invoice work where no two deals have the same terms, so a fixed form is not an option

- The AI layer. The system pre-fills what it can infer and asks only what it cannot, showing its reasoning and its suggested answer. Nobody has a settled pattern for that. You design it

- One product, different scope. A junior trader and a head trader use the same screens with different visibility. Making that obvious rather than confusing

Tables, timelines, maps, states, layers. There is nowhere to hide behind whitespace here.

There is also a genuine design tension you will own rather than escape: the sponsor wants something a newcomer could open and immediately use, with real pleasure in it. The daily users want density and speed. Both are right, and your system has to serve both without splitting into two products.

Day to day

- Own and build the design system: structure, colour, layering, state, density, the rules for when each applies — and keep it coherent as the product triples in size

- Design the role workplaces, from wireframe to shipping quality, and push back on the wireframe when it is wrong

- Present and defend decisions in client demos, to business users, without a product manager translating for you

- Run two streams at once: what is implementable in this sprint, and the future-state concept that keeps the sponsor's ambition alive without blocking delivery

- Draw fast — many related screens, consistent, from imperfect input

What we expect

- 5+ years in product design on large connected systems, where changing one screen moves three others. Not marketing sites, not single-purpose consumer apps

- You have owned a design system, or been the person who decided its rules.** Working inside someone else's is not the same skill and is not what this seat needs

- You can sell a design decision to a business audience. We are treating this as a hard requirement. You can explain to a trader why the screen works this way, hold the position when it is right, concede when it is not, and do both on the spot

- AI in your production workflow — obligatory. Generating and comparing many variants, producing screens and content at a rate that is not achievable by hand, using models to attack your own work before a stakeholder does. Occasional experimentation is not enough here

- A portfolio of complex interfaces — dashboards, tables, forms, dense states — presented with the constraints that produced them, not just the pictures

- Comfort with the fact that decisions get revisited. Your job is to make each revision cheaper by having a system rather than a pile of screens

- Fluent Russian; English good enough to present and argue in a client demo

Strongly preferred

- B2B, fintech, logistics or trading interfaces

- Maps, timelines, layered or time-versioned data, serious data visualisation

- Experience where the project's sponsor was not one of its users

- Working directly with developers on implementation fidelity

This role is not for you if

- Your portfolio is beautiful and you cannot say what constraint produced each decision

- You need the research finished and the flows settled before you can start

- You want to inherit a design system rather than build one

- You go quiet when a senior business user says "I don't like it"

- Density frightens you, or your instinct on a hard screen is to remove information rather than organise it

What we offer

- Ownership of the design system for a platform an entire company will run on

- Direct access to founders and decision-makers on both sides; you present your own work

- Design problems that do not have known answers — AI-assisted data entry, P&L legibility, one product at six levels of access

- Generous AI tooling budget — frontier models are a working expense, not a perk

- Fully remote and long-term, with regular travel to Dubai

- Competitive compensation, discussed individually

Honestly about the pace

The first production release is scheduled for February. Until then the intensity is high, and the volume of screens is large. That is the trade for owning the system.
