PURCHASING MANAGER (5 DAYS/WEEK - LOCATION: WOODLANDS)

Job Summary

Lead purchasing operations by managing supplier relationships, optimizing procurement strategies, and driving team performance to ensure supply assurance and meet key performance indicators in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier relationships by negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
• Develop and implement integrated purchasing strategies to optimize order fulfillment and supply assurance
• Lead the creation and enforcement of policies, procedures, and metrics to address material shortages and implement effective solutions
• Source materials and engineering parts locally and overseas according to Bill of Materials (B.O.M) and equipment needs
• Analyze procurement data to identify trends and recommend improvements such as demand aggregation to support decision-making
• Design and maintain dashboards reporting procurement trends, forecasts, and KPIs for management to enable early intervention
• Direct the team to achieve key KPIs including On-Time Delivery (OTD), inventory turns, excess and obsolete inventory reduction, aging inventory control, and days of supply for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to set achievable targets, develop strategic plans, and drive team performance toward goals

Required competencies and certifications

• Minimum 5 years of relevant purchasing experience in the manufacturing industry
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin to communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Ability and willingness to travel to Batam as required
• Proficient in MS Office with advanced Excel skills
• Hands-on experience with MS Navision ERP system or SAP
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Inventory Management, or Supply Chain Management preferred
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team player
