Position Objective

The Regional Manager – Heavy Industrial Electrical, Midstream & Power Generation provides operational leadership and oversight for multiple projects and field teams within a designated region. This role serves as a critical link between executive leadership, project teams, and field operations, ensuring safe execution, operational consistency, client satisfaction, and strong financial performance.

The Regional Manager partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and Operations Leadership to support project execution, workforce development, resource planning, and strategic growth initiatives across industrial electrical, Midstream energy, power generation, utility, and energy infrastructure markets.

The successful candidate will support projects including compressor stations, natural gas pipeline facilities, industrial process facilities, manufacturing operations, substations, power generation assets, and other heavy industrial electrical infrastructure projects throughout North America.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Project Oversight

• Lead regional operations across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives, customer expectations, and operational standards
• Support Project Managers and field leadership throughout project planning, execution, commissioning, and closeout activities
• Monitor project performance related to safety, schedule, quality, productivity, and profitability
• Assist in developing execution strategies that drive operational efficiency and successful project outcomes
• Ensure proper allocation of labor, equipment, subcontractors, and resources across multiple active projects
• Support project teams in identifying and resolving operational challenges, risks, and field constraints
• Participate in project reviews and provide leadership guidance on complex or high-profile projects
• Support projects involving:
  • Industrial electrical and inside wiring systems
  • Medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution
  • Switchgear, MCCs, transformers, and electrical equipment installations
  • Compressor station electrical systems
  • Pipeline facility electrical infrastructure
  • Power generation facilities
  • Commissioning, startup, energization, and turnover activities

Safety & Compliance

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout all regional operations
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements
• Partner with field leadership to identify hazards and implement corrective actions
• Reinforce accountability for safety performance at all levels of the organization
• Champion Michels' safety-first culture across every project and operational team

Financial & Business Performance

• Review project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, productivity, resource utilization, and cost controls
• Collaborate with Project Managers to identify risks and opportunities that impact profitability
• Support monthly operational and financial reviews with project leadership
• Assist in the development and execution of regional business plans and growth strategies
• Contribute to achieving revenue, margin, backlog, and operational performance objectives
• Support oversight of portfolios including industrial electrical, Midstream energy, compressor station, power generation, and infrastructure projects

Leadership Development & Team Building

• Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and other operational personnel
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Support recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retention initiatives
• Help identify and develop future leaders within the organization
• Promote employee engagement and reinforce Michels Family values throughout the region
• Develop leadership capabilities that support sustainable operational growth

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Estimating, Procurement, Engineering, Safety, and Field Operations teams
• Support bid strategy, project pursuits, preconstruction planning, and resource forecasting efforts
• Ensure effective communication and collaboration between office and field teams
• Work with Operations Leadership to drive consistency in project delivery and execution standards
• Share best practices and lessons learned across regions and project teams

Client, Labor & Stakeholder Relations

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, labor partners, utilities, energy companies, and industrial clients
• Support client engagement activities, ensuring responsiveness and long-term partnership development
• Promote collaborative union and labor-management relationships where applicable
• Represent Michels Power professionally in all customer-facing interactions
• Support business development efforts and strategic growth initiatives within key energy and industrial sectors

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout regional operations

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of industrial electrical, Midstream, power generation, utility, energy infrastructure, or heavy industrial construction experience
• Progressive leadership experience managing multiple projects, teams, or geographic territories
• Strong project management, operational, and financial management experience
• Proven ability to lead teams and influence results in complex construction environments
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Heavy industrial electrical construction and inside wiring experience
• Experience supporting compressor stations, pipeline facilities, Midstream energy infrastructure, power generation facilities, industrial manufacturing plants, or related energy projects
• Multi-project leadership experience within a regional structure
• Exposure to labor relations and union environments
• Experience leading large-scale electrical infrastructure and energy construction programs
• Familiarity with commissioning, startup, energization, and system turnover processes

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Frequent travel to project sites, regional offices, and customer locations
• Blend of office, field, and customer-facing environments
• Fast-paced work environment requiring effective prioritization and decision-making
• Exposure to active construction sites, weather conditions, and varying noise levels during field visits
• Travel required, including extended durations based on business needs
• Ability to lift and move 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Requires close vision and focus adjustment for detailed work
