What you will have an opportunity to do:

We are looking for a highly engaging, safety and customer focused individual to join our team as Security Supervisor. The successful candidate for this role is engaging, highly detailed, and is open to learning and leading by example, responds in a professional and courteous manner to guests and team, as well as being there to support the team both personally and professionally.

The Security Supervisor leads a team that is responsible for the safety and security of guests and employees and the property. This includes supporting other department activities to help assure the highest levels of guest and employee service. Your Role:

  • Carry out the safety policies and procedures of the property and Benchmark, while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and teamwork atmosphere as per standards of service.
  • Follow safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment for guests and associates.
  • Manage and direct the third-party Security team to uphold the highest standards of safety
  • Reduce the opportunity for the commission of crimes using preventive patrol and high visibility of security throughout the premises on a timely schedule.
  • Promote and preserve the peace on premises to assure a comfortable and non-threatening environment for guests and employees.
  • Aid, or seek aid for, individuals who are in danger of physical harm, or in need of medical attention.
  • Respond to emergencies as prescribed in Emergencies Service Procedures of the property.
  • Assure the security of guest and employee information both in written reports and in general business operations.
  • Complete all Daily Activity and Incident Reports.
  • Help assure compliance with Liquor Laws.
  • Assist in developing and presenting security related programs.
  • Review and edit written records produced by Security Officers.
  • Aid in other job classification as determined necessary by immediate superior.

What are we looking for?

Qualifications

  • Previous security, safety, law enforcement, military, loss prevention, or related experience required; hotel or hospitality security experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory, lead, or shift-lead experience preferred.
  • Experience providing operational oversight to contract security personnel is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of professional security practices, incident response, patrol procedures, access control, and emergency response.
  • Ability to assess situations quickly, exercise sound judgment, de-escalate conflict, and respond calmly and professionally during emergencies or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong observational and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and objective written incident reports.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests, associates, contracted personnel, vendors, emergency responders, and hotel leadership.
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Comfortable using CCTV, access-control systems, computers, email, and other security and business technology.
  • Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions within established policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across hotel departments and maintain a professional, service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on hotel needs, including evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any licenses, certifications, or credentials required to perform the position under applicable District of Columbia requirements.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and regularly patrol guest areas, back-of-house areas, meeting and event spaces, exterior areas, and other locations throughout the property.
  • Ability to move throughout a multi-level hotel, including regularly navigating hallways, stairs, entrances, exits, and other areas as necessary.
  • Ability to respond promptly and move safely throughout the property when responding to security incidents, emergencies, alarms, or requests for assistance.
  • Ability to sit or remain in a stationary position for periods of time while monitoring CCTV, security systems, or completing reports and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, telephones, radios, security equipment, and other devices and to handle, grasp, carry, and manipulate work-related materials.
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, reach, crouch, kneel, and perform other physical movements necessary to inspect areas, access equipment, or respond to situations.
  • Ability to lift and carry work-related materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and to push or pull materials as necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Visual ability sufficient to observe surroundings, conduct patrols, monitor CCTV and security systems, recognize potential hazards or suspicious activity, and read computer screens, reports, and other written materials.
  • Hearing ability sufficient to monitor surroundings and alarms and communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and by two-way radio in both routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and be understood when interacting with guests, associates, contracted Security Officers, vendors, emergency responders, and other individuals.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position safely and effectively, with or without reasonable accommodation.
