Overview

We are looking for candidates with a credit structuring/investing background to join the OMERS Asia Credit team. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a well-established credit team focusing on the APAC private and public high-yield credit markets. The successful candidate will help the team deliver absolute-return performance by investing across the credit capital structure. Applicants should be intellectually curious and have experience analysing, modelling and evaluating credit transactions in the Asia Pacific region, particularly in the non-public space.

We welcome a strong team player to join a collaborative team that values mutual respect and cognitive diversity. We value curiosity, candour and contrarian thinking. Our focus is investment results; our mission is to help secure the financial future of the beneficiaries of our pension plan.

As a member of the OMERS Asia Credit team, you will:

  • Help source credit transactions; guide issuer and asset selection, perform diligence and build investment cases.
  • Monitor and review positions in the portfolio, across both private and public investments.
  • Hold responsibility and accountability for assigned sectors and markets; present and defend investment recommendations; support the diligence and documentation process in private transactions.
  • Participate in, contribute to and encourage healthy, robust investment debate and challenge of ideas.
  • Collaborate with OMERS investment teams and offices globally and help institutionalise knowledge.

What you will bring:

  • Relevant experience in leveraged finance, investment banking or buy-side credit (typically around 4–6 years, or equivalent demonstrated capability).
  • Strong credit skills and the ability to assess all parts of the capital structure; familiarity with leveraged finance as an asset class.
  • A track record of underwriting in private markets in Asia.
  • Experience evaluating, parameterising and recommending transactions, with the ability to articulate clear, logical, convincing arguments.
  • Strong understanding of credit structures, covenants and asset coverage; familiarity with loan markets.
  • Ability to develop and nurture relationships within the capital-markets community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a team-player mindset, and a bias to action with a high degree of initiative.
  • A university degree in economics, business, or a quantitative/engineering-related discipline, or equivalent experience.
