The Video Playback organization’s mission is to provide global, self-service, multi-tenant, turn key solutions for all WBD Streaming brands both at Server and Client side across Live linear, Live event & VOD stream types and wide array of device platforms serving all customers with seamless & smooth playback experience.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build scalable data platforms, pipelines, semantic layers, and analytics solutions that enable data-driven decision-making. You will own the full lifecycle of data products—from requirements gathering and architecture design to implementation, deployment, and visualization. Working closely with business stakeholders, Product Analytics, and cross-functional engineering teams, you will ensure business logic is accurately modeled and represented in production-ready datasets and semantic layers that support self-service analytics, actionable insights, and strategic business outcomes.

  • You will partner closely with business stakeholders, product teams, and engineering teams to understand reporting, analytics, and data platform requirements, translating business needs into scalable technical solutions.

  • You will design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and data products leveraging multiple data sources, including Snowflake, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other enterprise systems.

  • You will create scalable data models, semantic layers, and reporting architectures that enable accurate, reliable, and self-service analytics across the organization.

  • Develop technical designs, data flow diagrams, system architecture documentation, and process workflows to clearly communicate solutions to engineering teams, stakeholders, and data providers.

  • Build intuitive, visually compelling, and user-friendly dashboards and interfaces that transform complex datasets into actionable business insights.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to implementation, testing, deployment, and support.

  • Present and articulate technical designs, architectural decisions, and implementation approaches, incorporating feedback to align with engineering standards, best practices, and business objectives.

  • Contribute to engineering excellence by promoting coding standards, design best practices, documentation quality, and continuous improvement through peer reviews and technical mentorship.

  • Design and optimize SQL queries, data pipelines, and reporting workloads to ensure performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues by performing root cause analysis across applications, databases, reports, and data pipelines, ensuring minimal business disruption.

  • Drive automation and operational improvements to enhance platform reliability, developer productivity, and overall user experience.

  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely support for critical production incidents, ensuring adherence to service-level objectives and operational excellence.

What to Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics.

  • 5–8 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Data Platform Engineering, or related domains.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, dimensional modeling, and semantic layer design principles.

  • Sound exposure of architecting, scaling, and operating enterprise-grade data platforms, including real-time streaming pipelines, data lakes, data warehouses, and self-service analytics ecosystems.

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for complex querying, data transformation, performance tuning, and analytics.

  • Experience working with enterprise databases and cloud data platforms such as Oracle, PostgreSQL Mongo, and Snowflake.

  • Sound proficiency in semantic modeling, business intelligence, and analytics enablement using tools such as Looker, Tableau, or equivalent BI platforms.

  • Strong programming expertise in Python and/or Go, with sound knowledge of distributed systems, data structures, algorithms, APIs, and data serialization formats.

  • Exposure of Generative AI and LLM-based solutions for data platform building and analytics optimization.

  • Experience working with cloud storage and data services such as AWS S3 and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Experience in cloud-native infrastructure, containerization, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using AWS/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

  • Experience in Media, Entertainment, Streaming, or Media Technology domains is preferred.

  • Proven experience working within Agile development environments and collaborating effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable analytics solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex business problems through simple, efficient, and maintainable technical solutions.

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, well-documented solutions with a focus on performance, scalability, and continuous improvement.
