Senior Backend Engineer - Solana Mobile
Design and own backend architecture for Solana Mobile services, build REST and WebSocket APIs, operate production services, improve CI/CD and infrastructure, own observability, and contribute to device attestation, Seed Vault integration, and off-chain services that compose with on-chain logic.
Responsibilities
- Design and own backend architecture for dApp Store APIs, wallet services, device registry, event tracking, and staking systems.
- Build and maintain REST and WebSocket APIs for Android, Flutter, web clients, and third-party developers.
- Own production services, including on-call rotation, runbooks, post-mortems, and incident follow-up.
- Automate workflow friction and build internal tools that save repeated effort.
- Improve CI/CD reliability and build infrastructure for speed, cost, and reproducibility.
- Conduct code reviews, contribute to technical discussions, and initiate RFCs.
- Drive AWS infrastructure decisions across ECS, RDS, Lambda, SQS, and CloudFront.
- Own observability, including structured logging, metrics, alerting, tracing, and incident response runbooks.
- Contribute to device attestation and Seed Vault integration, including on-chain verification flows.
- Collaborate with mobile engineers on resilient, mobile-first API patterns.
- Work with Protocol Engineers on off-chain services that compose with on-chain logic.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience operating production services.
- High ownership and ability to drive problems end-to-end.
- Proactive problem identification and solution delivery.
- Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js and/or Rust.
- Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design, query optimization, indexing, and migrations.
- Working knowledge of Redis caching, pub/sub, and TTL strategies.
- Hands-on AWS experience with ECS, RDS, SQS, S3, and Lambda.
- Understanding of distributed systems, including idempotency, eventual consistency, fault tolerance, and graceful degradation.
- Security awareness covering secrets management, JWT, OAuth2, and OWASP practices.
- Comfort with Docker and containerized deployments.
