Senior Data Engineer
Own the data ingestion and governance layer for Cari Network's analytical platform, building foundational pipelines and governance practices from a largely blank slate while guiding platform evaluation and technical decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design ingestion pipelines from transactional and event infrastructure
- Evaluate analytical platform options
- Build data governance practices
- Enforce the transactional source-of-truth boundary
- Define data quality and reconciliation practices
- Write RFCs and design documents
- Define monitoring, alerting, and failure recovery standards
- Mentor less-senior data engineers
Requirements
- 5–7 years of data engineering experience
- Hands-on pipeline design experience
- Knowledge of AWS-native data tooling, Snowflake, and Databricks tradeoffs
- Experience building data governance practices
- Experience with access control, audit logging, and data lineage
- Understanding of analytical layers derived from transactional sources of truth
- Production experience with Kafka, MSK, PostgreSQL, or equivalent tools
- Strong written communication
- Experience owning a domain independently in a developing function
