Senior Legal Counsel, Data Center

The role covers commercial agreements, contract negotiations, legal and regulatory support, contract templates, legal research, risk mitigation, and coordination with external counsel for data center projects.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate procurement, equipment supply, EPC, construction, lease, services, colocation, and interconnection agreements.
• Lead contract negotiations with vendors, contractors, landlords, customers, and service providers.
• Provide practical legal support to project, construction, procurement, and operations teams.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and standard negotiating positions.
• Conduct legal research and monitor legal and regulatory developments in Singapore and Malaysia.
• Identify and help mitigate legal and compliance risks.
• Coordinate with and manage external counsel and other service providers.

Requirements

• Law degree such as an LL.B., J.D., or equivalent.
• 8+ years of post-qualification legal experience, ideally across a leading law firm and in-house legal department.
• Ability to independently draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements.
• Familiarity with Singapore and/or Malaysia legal and regulatory requirements.
• Admission to the Singapore or Malaysia Bar, or another relevant common law jurisdiction, is preferred.
• Experience with data center, infrastructure, construction/EPC, real estate and leasing, energy, procurement, technology, or outsourcing transactions is strongly preferred.
• Strong commercial judgment, legal drafting, analytical, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder-management, and collaboration skills.
• Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
