Senior Legal Counsel
This hands-on role partners with Product, Compliance, business teams, and executive leadership to launch products, provide practical legal guidance, lead regulatory initiatives, and improve legal operations through AI and automation.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Product, Compliance, and business teams to design and launch products.
- Advise on securities, AML/ATF, payments, consumer protection, and other regulatory matters.
- Lead regulatory initiatives, including examinations, audits, licensing, policy development, and regulator engagement.
- Provide practical, business-oriented advice to company leaders.
- Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and scalable processes to improve legal work.
- Support commercial agreements, corporate governance, employment, and strategic legal matters.
Requirements
- Canadian-qualified lawyer with 5+ years of experience.
- Ability to operate independently and make decisions with incomplete information.
- Business-oriented legal judgment and practical risk analysis.
- Comfort advising product and operational teams on ambiguous questions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with Bitcoin, crypto, securities, payments, AML, or regulated financial products in Canada.
- Experience using AI, automation, or lightweight tooling to improve legal work.
