Senior Manager, Network & Cloud Architecture
Lead the organization responsible for the physical and logical network fabric powering Crusoe's AI-first cloud across edge, backbone, data center, and SDN/cloud domains. Manage architects, managers, and senior and staff engineers; set multi-year architecture strategy; arbitrate cross-domain tradeoffs; establish engineering standards and design reviews; and partner with product, hardware, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own company-wide architecture strategy across edge, backbone, data center, and SDN/cloud domains.
- Arbitrate tradeoffs between backbone capacity, data center fabric bandwidth, and SDN overlay overhead.
- Establish engineering standards, reference architectures, and design review processes.
- Set strategy for PoP design, peering, IX participation, and edge compute and caching placement.
- Set strategy for long-haul and core network design, BGP, MPLS, segment routing, optical transport, and redundancy.
- Set strategy for spine-leaf fabrics, RDMA interconnects, and power- and cooling-aware rack design.
- Set strategic direction for SDN control planes, Kubernetes networking, service meshes, VPCs, load balancers, and security groups.
- Champion intent-based networking, GitOps, and network source-of-truth practices.
- Lead executive-level remediation for major cross-domain outages.
- Partner with product, hardware, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders on multi-year roadmaps.
- Align software and operations teams on execution.
Requirements
- 12+ years in network engineering or architecture.
- 5+ years managing individual contributors.
- Experience leading network architecture at hyperscale across 1000+ switches and multi-campus or multi-region environments.
- Fluency across edge, backbone, data center fabric, and SDN/cloud networking.
- Strong command of SDN and cloud-native networking.
- Experience setting multi-year technical strategy and influencing VP or C-level stakeholders.
- Experience building and scaling technical organizations, including hiring and developing senior and staff engineers.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with hyperscalers, AI cloud providers, HPC centers, or large-scale colocation operators is a bonus.
- Experience supporting multi-node GPU training infrastructure is a bonus.
- Familiarity with SONiC OS, P4 programmable data planes, or formal network verification tools is a bonus.
- Open-source networking contributions are a bonus.
- Relevant CCIE or JNCIE certifications are a bonus.
