Senior Manager, Tax
Serve as the founding member of Figure's internal tax function, owning tax strategy, compliance, and provision infrastructure while partnering with external advisors and cross-functional teams on blockchain lending products, corporate structures, and digital asset transactions.
Responsibilities
- Establish and own Figure's foundational tax function and scalable processes across corporate tax pillars.
- Manage federal, state, and local corporate tax return preparation and filing with external tax advisors.
- Lead quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740, including documentation and disclosures.
- Evaluate tax implications of business lines, blockchain-native loan products, and digital asset features.
- Collaborate with Product, Legal, and Finance to integrate tax planning into company initiatives.
- Monitor domestic tax laws regarding digital assets, crypto transactions, and financial technology.
- Coordinate responses to federal and state tax audits, inquiries, and notices.
- Design internal tax controls and workflows meeting public company audit and SOX standards.
- Manage intercompany agreements and sales/use tax obligations.
- Manage the annual R&D tax credit study.
- Review nexus positions across active states.
- Lead intercompany transfer pricing studies with external advisors.
- Own year-end information reporting, including Forms 1099 and 1098.
Requirements
- 7+ years of progressive corporate tax experience combining Big 4 or top-tier public accounting with high-growth corporate tax environments.
- Active CPA license preferred.
- Deep knowledge of ASC 740, US GAAP financial reporting, and federal and state corporate tax compliance.
- Technical interest or experience in fintech, debt/lending instruments, digital assets, or blockchain-based financial products.
- Ability to work with complex financial datasets and automate workflows with technology.
- High-ownership mindset and demonstrated ability to drive projects from inception to completion.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex tax risks to non-tax stakeholders, leadership, and auditors.
