Senior Platform / DevOps Engineer - AI & Data Platform

The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Platform / DevOps Engineer to help establish and evolve a governed development environment for AI and data-driven application prototyping, with a clear pathway to transition successful solutions into production.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of cloud platform engineering, DevOps, AI and data, helping technology and business teams experiment quickly while ensuring the right security, governance and operational foundations are in place.

You will be responsible for building the platform capabilities, automation and reusable patterns that allow development teams to provision environments quickly, experiment safely and ultimately deploy supported production services.

What You'll Be Doing

• Build and automate development environments or that allow teams to safely experiment with AI and application development.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment patterns, particularly using GitHub/GitHub Actions.
• Establish environment provisioning, access controls, governance and operational guardrails.
• Support integration between GitHub, Databricks, cloud services and other supporting platforms.
• Develop reusable infrastructure templates, deployment patterns and automation to enable rapid and consistent environment creation.
• Establish DevSecOps practices and ensure appropriate security and compliance controls are embedded into platform delivery.
• Work closely with technology, data, AI and business teams to help transition prototypes into reliable, supported production services.
• Advise on platform architecture, operational support requirements, scalability and long-term maintainability.
• Help establish standards and patterns that can be adopted across multiple development teams.

About You

We are looking for a hands-on Platform or DevOps Engineer who enjoys building platforms and automation rather than simply maintaining existing infrastructure.

You will ideally have strong experience across:

• Platform Engineering / DevOps
• GitHub Enterprise / GitHub Actions
• CI/CD and automated deployment
• Cloud platforms, ideally Azure or AWS
• Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
• Environment provisioning and automation
• Cloud security, governance, RBAC and access controls
• Kubernetes / containerised environments
• Working with development teams to improve delivery and deployment processes
• A software development background would be desirable, particularly experience building applications and understanding the developer journey from development and experimentation through to production.

Experience working with Databricks, AI/ML platforms or data engineering teams would be highly desirable.

Databricks experience is not essential if you have strong platform engineering fundamentals. We are particularly interested in engineers who understand how to build the CI/CD, governance, infrastructure and automation around data and AI platforms.
