Senior Security Architect

Top-Tier Professional Services Firm | Sydney CBD | Hybrid

About the Firm

We're working with one of Australia's leading professional services firms, an organisation with a history spanning more than 150 years and a genuinely global footprint across Asia, the UK and beyond. It's a business that has invested heavily in building out a mature, well-regarded Information Security function, and continues to raise the bar on how security is embedded across the firm.

About the Role
This is a hands-on, outcome-focused Security Architecture role, reporting into the Information Security Manager with a close working relationship to the Head of Information Security. You'll be the go-to technical voice for the wider security team engineers and analysts, providing architecture guidance and technical mentorship.

You'll work across a live programme including cloud migration and uplift (Azure is the platform of choice) and network segmentation, and help guide the roll-out of technologies like CASB and SASE, shaping the "how" while the engineering team handles the "what". There's also genuine scope to bring fresh thinking to the table, including how the firm approaches AI and emerging technology risk.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing security architecture guidance across day-to-day solution and design reviews, assessing business needs and locking down minimum security and technical controls
  • Building repeatable, reusable security patterns and reference architectures in partnership with the broader technology team, including Enterprise and Solution Architects
  • Reviewing new and existing technology projects for compliance with architecture and security standards
  • Guiding the high-level design of key initiatives such as cloud migration, network segmentation and CASB/SASE adoption
  • Acting as a trusted technical mentor and sounding board for the security engineering, analyst and GRC team
  • Bringing pragmatic, risk-based thinking to design decisions — someone who can weigh up trade-offs and land on the right answer, not a one-size-fits-all rule
  • Staying close to emerging technology and threat trends, including Gen-AI and agentic AI, and translating that into practical recommendations
What We're Looking For
  • Strong Security Architecture experience, ideally with exposure to SABSA and/or TOGAF (certification a bonus, not essential)
  • Broad technical grounding across firewalls, EDR, SIEM, threat hunting and incident response, with hands-on Azure experience highly regarded
  • Solid networking knowledge, including micro-segmentation across on-prem and cloud environments
  • Familiarity with the ASD Essential Eight and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks
  • Comfort working in a regulatory-adjacent environment; exposure to frameworks such as APRA CPS234/CPS230 is a plus, even without having worked in a directly regulated organisation
  • A self-driven, enthusiastic approach, someone who brings ideas to the table rather than waiting to be asked
  • Excellent communication skills, equally comfortable explaining a design trade-off to a lawyer or business stakeholder as to an engineer
Why You'll Enjoy It Here
Beyond the work itself, this is a firm that genuinely invests in its people:
  • Hybrid working, plus additional flexible work arrangements available
  • Structured career development CPD support, study assistance, and internal and external secondment opportunities
  • Coaching and mentoring built into how the firm develops its people
  • 26 weeks paid parental leave, with no distinction between primary and secondary carer and no minimum service period
  • A strong wellbeing offering, including mental health support, an Employee Assistance Program and an annual wellbeing benefit you can use however suits you
  • Subsidised on-site café, salary continuance insurance and a range of financial and lifestyle discounts
