Senior Security & Compliance Engineer
As we grow, so does the amount of customer trust we're responsible for — and that's where you come in. We're looking for a Senior Security & Compliance Engineer to take ownership of how Factbird protects its systems, its data, and its customers' trust.
This is a senior position in Factbird's engineering team. You'll be trusted to make architecture and process calls, mentor others, and represent security in rooms where the details matter, connecting technical decisions to customer trust and business risk, not just closing tickets.
You'll do well here if you take a pragmatic, risk-based approach, and if you're as comfortable influencing people who don't report to you as you are digging through logs yourself.
What you'll do
Security posture & audits
- Assess our current security and compliance posture, spot the gaps, and recommend improvements grounded in what will actually move the needle
- Own our technical security audits end to end — running them, turning findings into a prioritised, realistic plan, and helping us get (and maintain) the certifications and controls that matter to our customers
- Design and implement security controls and processes across our cloud infrastructure, applications, and development practices, including running security risk and penetration tests on a regular cadence
- Take a pragmatic, risk-based approach to it all — we're not a bank, and our controls shouldn't pretend we are
Influence & partnership
- Author proposals and technical specs for security initiatives, and drive them to a decision
- Mentor engineers on secure coding and security-minded design — you'll be the go-to person for the team
- Partner with engineering leadership on architecture decisions that touch security or compliance
- Represent security in cross-functional conversations with Product, Customer Success, and Sales when customers ask us hard questions — and they will
The ideal background
- At least five years experience since graduating from a relevant Masters program
- Solid technical experience in security engineering, with the ability to dig into our AWS environment, Rust-built codebase, and processes yourself — not just point at them
- Working familiarity with frameworks like SOC 2, GDPR, and similar, and what it actually takes to operationalise them, not just the checklist
- A track record of running or contributing meaningfully to technical audits
- The communication skills to influence people who don't report to you — you can make the case for a change and bring people along with it. And you can do this with strong English fluency.
Here's what you can look forward to:
- Flexible working hours: We trust you to manage your time. Life isn't one-size-fits-all, and neither is work.
- Competitive salary: We offer compensation that reflects your skills, experience, and impact.
- Internet reimbursement: Stay connected and productive, wherever you choose to work from.
- Thoughtful, human onboarding: We'll support you step by step, giving you the context, tools, and guidance you need to feel confident from day one.
- A career path that grows with you: Through bi-yearly Individual Development Plan conversations, we'll work together to shape a career journey that fits your ambitions.
- Company-wide gatherings & team days: We regularly come together across teams and regions to connect, celebrate, and align on what's next.
- A global, inclusive culture: We're proud of our diverse backgrounds and perspectives — and we actively celebrate them in how we work and collaborate.
And if someone in your network comes to mind who might be a great fit — feel free to share this opportunity with them.
At Factbird, we believe that great work starts with people feeling respected, valued, and included. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and are committed to building a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
