Senior SMS Manager
We are hiring on behalf of our client — an American media company with an office in Warsaw. They own and monetize a large newsletter portfolio across finance, health, and business verticals, sending to millions of subscribers in the US. SMS is their next major revenue channel, and nothing exists yet. This role builds it from scratch.
The role
This is a full ownership role for someone who has launched SMS programs at scale and knows how to turn a subscriber list into a revenue line. You will design the infrastructure, build the opt-in strategy, own the monetization, run the content operations, and hire a team as the channel grows.
You will not be inheriting an existing program. You will not be coordinating vendors. You will be the person who decides how this is done and executes it directly, with full access to leadership and real resources behind you.
What you will own
SMS infrastructure: platform, vendor ecosystem, sending architecture, segmentation, and message routing
Opt-in strategy and subscriber growth across newsletter properties, web, and email
Deliverability, sender reputation, and performance metrics
Full subscriber lifecycle from opt-in through churn
SMS content calendar, copy standards, and editorial coordination
SMS advertising product: rate card, inventory, targeting, advertiser reporting
TCPA, GDPR, and carrier compliance end to end
Team building as the channel scales
Must-have
5+ years in SMS marketing or mobile messaging, at least 2 at high-volume scale
Proven track record launching an SMS program from scratch — not inheriting an existing channel
Hands-on experience with a major SMS platform: Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Twilio, or comparable
Experience building and selling SMS advertising inventory: rate cards, targeting, advertiser reporting
Deep compliance fluency: TCPA, GDPR, CTIA — lived and enforced, not listed
Experience hiring and managing a small team
Data-driven: tracks everything, reports clearly, decides from numbers
C1+ English, written and verbal
Nice to have
Background in newsletter, media, affiliate, or performance marketing
Experience with workflow automation tools: Make, Zapier, or similar applied to messaging ops
Familiarity with A/B testing applied to copy, send timing, and opt-in conversion
Technical fluency with APIs, webhooks, or basic scripting for platform integrations
Compensation and benefits
Competitive salary + bonuses
21 paid vacation days, 15 paid sick days
Remote or hybrid, Warsaw office
B2B contract, company covers taxes
