Senior Software Engineer, C++
Join Flow Traders in Amsterdam to build and optimize in-house trading technology handling large-scale market data and trading across global venues. You will work with technologists, quantitative researchers, and traders on venue connectivity, trading engines, shared platforms, and high-performance software.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and global rollout of the Core platform across multiple business and focus groups.
- Deploy and validate deliverables with traders and quants in a fast-paced iterative process.
- Develop tools and frameworks for data-driven systematic pricing and trading strategies.
- Refine platform requirements and iterate on design with engineers, quants, and technical traders.
- Build exchange connectivity software using APIs and protocols such as FIX, WebSocket, and HTTP.
- Maintain and extend testing suites to ensure software quality.
- Optimize exchange communication through kernel bypass, TLS, and connection handling.
- Research exchange behavior to align system behavior with exchange behavior.
- Implement exchange connectivity solutions using C++, Rust, Python, and TypeScript SDKs.
- Implement trading algorithms based on trader and quant requirements.
- Improve trading engine stability, reliability, and performance.
- Enhance monitoring and observability with Trading Operations.
- Investigate and resolve production crashes, logic issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Prepare releases and deployments of new trading engine versions.
Requirements
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of post-graduation professional C++ software development experience.
- Proprietary trading industry experience is preferred.
- Ability to write clean, reliable, and highly scalable code.
- Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
- Experience with parallel, asynchronous, and multithreaded programming.
- Interest in maximizing performance from available hardware and software.
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical business colleagues.
