Senior Software Engineer, Core
Design, build, and implement changes to Stellar Core, the distributed system maintaining the Stellar ledger and global consensus. The role focuses on peer-to-peer networking, processing performance, decentralization, resilience, incentive mechanics, formal verification, simulation, and distributed and multi-core scalability.
Responsibilities
- Design and build key components of Stellar Core.
- Design and develop robust, scalable, and extensible technologies for developers and network participants.
- Collaborate on architectures and subsystems with the CTO, engineering team, and open source community.
- Write clean, maintainable code with emphasis on edge-case analysis and future-proofing.
- Own core Stellar Core subsystems and help achieve product milestones.
- Participate in code review, design, and engineering best practices.
- Investigate and refactor performance bottlenecks.
- Author technical feature and protocol RFC specifications.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience developing software on a team.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Production experience writing modern C++ or Rust.
- Strong communication skills for technical discussions, design, and code review.
- Understanding of software design patterns and reusable, extensible, modular components.
- Knowledge of development best practices and tools.
- Passion for performance debugging and benchmarking.
