Senior Software Engineer, Data Engineering

You will be a core builder of Ripple's Caspian Data Platform, owning the design and delivery of production-grade data pipelines, data modeling, technical design, observability, AI tooling integration, infrastructure contributions, and mentorship across complex cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production ETL pipelines on Databricks using Delta Live Tables and Spark across Finance, Payments, Product, and GTM domains.
• Own governed, reusable data models across layers for business metrics and downstream consumption.
• Drive technical design for cross-team projects, documenting architecture, tradeoffs, and rollout plans.
• Build pipeline observability with failure detection, alerting, retry logic, and operational hygiene.
• Integrate AI tooling, agentic systems, automated code generation, and natural language interfaces into data workflows.
• Mentor engineers and review their code and designs.
• Contribute to infrastructure with Terraform and establish data contracts, access controls, and lineage with Unity Catalog.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of hands-on data engineering experience building and maintaining production pipelines and data models.
• Deep proficiency with Databricks or similar platforms, including Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, and PySpark or Spark SQL.
• Strong SQL skills in complex transformations, incremental materialization, schema evolution, and data quality validation.
• Solid AWS experience building and operating data systems at scale.
• Proficiency in Python for ingestion, transformation, testing, and utility tooling.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab and infrastructure-as-code with Terraform.
• Exposure to AI tooling in a data context.
• Ability to define data models and pipeline designs from ambiguous requirements with minimal oversight.
