Senior Software Engineer Fiat Payments & Banking Infrastructure
Design and implement scalable fiat payment rails and banking infrastructure, integrate with banking partners and external processors, build treasury management software, develop reconciliation and compliance tooling, and operate high-availability payment gateways using primarily Golang microservices.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design and hands-on development of fiat payment rails including ACH, RTP, FedNow, Request for Pay, and SEPA.
- Architect, implement, and scale API integrations with banking partners.
- Design and build treasury management software for programmatic liquidity management and automated balance transfers.
- Develop operational tooling for reconciliation, alerts, financial operations, and compliance reporting.
- Contribute to software development in an event-driven microservices environment.
- Develop microservices primarily in Golang.
- Work with platform engineers to establish and scale services.
- Respond to production issues and alerts to ensure payment gateway availability.
- Communicate with banking partners and client technical teams to resolve complex integration issues.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience focused on Payments, FinTech, or Banking-as-a-Service infrastructure.
- Deep production experience with Golang.
- Strong understanding of fiat networks and clearing systems including ACH, RTP, FedNow, SEPA, and Swift.
- Expertise in SQL and complex database schema design for high-throughput, ACID-compliant ledgers.
- Experience integrating resilient bank APIs and third-party payment processors.
- Resourceful, scrappy, and comfortable taking projects from 0 to 1.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for complex distributed systems.
- Comfort with ambiguity and independently solving architectural problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience with banking-as-a-service, brokerage-as-a-service, or payment-as-a-service businesses.
- Experience building treasury management or automated ledgering systems.
- Experience with digital assets and crypto infrastructure.
- Experience with distributed systems and messaging frameworks such as Kafka, ZeroMQ, or NATS.
