Senior SRE Platform Software Engineer

Build and operate bounded contexts of the NeoCloud SRE platform. Deliver production services through GitOps and CI/CD, meet SLOs, prevent configuration drift, own on-call operations, and create design documentation, runbooks, and tests.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate one or two bounded contexts of the SRE platform.
• Turn approved designs into production code delivered through GitOps and CI/CD.
• Maintain declared SLOs and prevent configuration drift.
• Take on-call responsibility for the services you build.
• Create design documents, on-call runbooks, and pull request descriptions.
• Write and maintain unit, integration, contract, chaos, and soak tests.

Requirements

• 7+ years of production software engineering experience, including 2+ years operating services with real on-call experience.
• Production-depth mastery of Go, Rust, or Java, with Python proficiency.
• Strong distributed systems knowledge, including idempotency, back-pressure, leader election, consistent hashing, gossip, CRDTs, Raft, and Paxos.
• Production-scale observability experience with systems such as Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Mimir, Thanos, Loki, Elasticsearch, or OpenTelemetry.
• Hands-on experience with Argo, Flux, Helm, Kustomize, Cosign, and GitOps.
• Experience writing Kubernetes controllers or CRDs for production traffic.
• mTLS bootstrap and certificate rotation experience, plus HashiCorp Vault or cloud KMS experience.
• SQL and time-series data experience.
• Rigorous unit, integration, contract, chaos, and soak testing experience.
• Ability to write clear design documents, on-call runbooks, and intent-driven pull request descriptions.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a similar field is preferred.
