Senior Staff Security Engineer, AI

This high-impact individual contributor role leads Ripple’s AI security strategy across the agentic software development lifecycle. The role defines guardrails for LLM and agentic AI adoption, builds AI-powered security tooling, reviews AI integrations, and contributes to industry standards, regulatory discussions, and published security practices.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the AI Security technical strategy and roadmap.
  • Design and implement controls for LLM-integrated and agentic AI systems, including sandboxing, identity and permission scoping, runtime monitoring, and containment.
  • Own AI security across the Controlled Agentic SDLC, including guardrails, provenance standards, dual-review requirements, and audit trails.
  • Lead security reviews and risk assessments for AI integrations entering production.
  • Build and scale Shadow AI detection capabilities and promote the AI acceptable use policy.
  • Serve as the technical resource on agentic AI risks including MCP server security, tool poisoning, prompt injection, and excessive agency.
  • Shape Ripple’s external AI security posture through industry frameworks, regulatory engagement, and research publication.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of Security Engineering experience with depth in at least two security domains and hands-on AI or ML security exposure.
  • Strong understanding of AI and LLM security concepts, including prompt injection, jailbreaks, data poisoning, model extraction, RAG manipulation, tool poisoning, excessive agency, and MCP server vulnerabilities.
  • Experience securing agentic AI systems through sandboxing, permission scoping, human-in-the-loop design, or runtime monitoring.
  • Fluency in cloud security across AWS, GCP, or Azure, CI/CD security, container and Kubernetes security, IAM, and API security.
  • Strong threat modeling skills using STRIDE, MITRE ATLAS, OWASP LLM Top 10, or comparable approaches.
  • FinTech, crypto, or regulated-environment experience is a strong plus.
  • Ability to influence technical direction across Engineering, Product, and Security without direct authority.
  • Builder’s mentality and comfort working in ambiguous problem spaces.
