Senior/Staff Software Engineer
Design, build, and maintain highly reliable, scalable, and secure distributed systems. Build and operate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, instrument systems with OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, and Datadog, write production-grade services in Go or Rust, contribute to open source, and represent XMTP Labs in public forums.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain highly reliable, scalable, and secure distributed systems
- Develop and support infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code practices
- Implement and maintain observability for large systems using OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, and Datadog
- Operate and automate deployments and system operations using Terraform and CloudFormation
- Contribute to and engage with open source communities and public communications
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability and performance
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Experience designing, building, and operating distributed fault-tolerant systems
- DevOps and infrastructure engineering experience with Terraform and CloudFormation
- Proficiency in Go and/or Rust
- Experience with observability solutions for large distributed systems
- Prior involvement in open source projects and public communications
- Interest or experience in Web3 technologies
- Nice to have: experience with internals of distributed databases
- Nice to have: experience contributing to a Layer 1 blockchain
- Nice to have: knowledge of messaging systems and protocols
