Software Asset Manager

Are you ready to take our software landscape to the next level? As Software Asset Manager at Tele2, you will play a key role in driving value, smart governance, and cost efficiency across our entire software portfolio.

About the role

As our Software Asset Manager, you will take ownership of the SAM function from A to Z. You will be the bridge between technology, finance, and procurement - ensuring compliance, navigating vendor relationships, and transforming business needs into smart, cost-effective software strategies.

At Tele2, we love simplifying the complex and finding smarter ways of working. In this role, you act as our trusted internal expert, making sure our software investments deliver maximum value while keeping risk to a minimum.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee software assets from acquisition and onboarding to renewal and decommissioning.
  • Proactively identify cost-saving opportunities, negotiate license cost with software vendors, optimize license utilization, and eliminate redundancies.
  • Act as the primary lead for vendor audits and compliance checks, ensuring a secure and well-prepared posture.
  • Develop and manage scalable SAM frameworks and governance structures, support budget planning, and model future renewal scenarios.
  • Close collaboration with IT, Legal, Finance, and Procurement to align software strategy with organizational goals.

Who are you?

You are commercially minded, analytical, and curious. You thrive in a dynamic environment where you get to take ownership, challenge standard ways of doing things, and translate complex licensing terms into clear, actionable business advice.

We believe you bring:

  • At least 3 years of SAM experience managing software assets across complex, large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Deep vendor and licensing expertise across major providers (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe), including hands-on experience leading vendor audits.
  • Strong commercial & contract skills with proven ability to interpret agreements, manage entitlements, negotiate terms and drive cost optimization.
  • Hands-on proficiency with leading SAM tools such as Snow License Manager or Flexera.
  • Governance & lifecycle experience, including establishing SAM policies, reporting, and lifecycle processes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Software Asset Manager (IAITAM CSAM or equivalent).
  • Experience with cloud and hybrid licensing models (FinOps, Azure, AWS).

As a person, you are:

  • A true challenger who naturally looks for smarter, leaner, and more effective ways of working.
  • A proactive doer who takes full ownership and drives initiatives across the finish line.
  • A collaborative communicator who builds strong relationships and can explain licensing topics simply to any audience.
