Software Development Engineer, Backend
Build, test, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services with Node.js. Work with MongoDB, Redis, microservices, testing, secure coding, distributed systems, and asynchronous communication while collaborating with engineering and product partners.
Responsibilities
- Build, test, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services in Node.js
- Model data in MongoDB and use Redis for caching, queues, and rate limiting
- Contribute clean, readable, and documented code to microservices
- Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews
- Debug, profile, and fix staging and production issues
- Follow secure coding practices
- Understand product and business context behind engineering requirements
- Break down tasks, provide estimates, and ship iteratively
- Work with senior engineers on design and integrate feedback
- Coordinate with frontend, product, and backend pods on shared contracts
- Learn distributed systems and asynchronous communication patterns
- Improve the codebase
Requirements
- 2–5 years of backend development experience
- Hands-on experience building APIs with Node.js
- Working experience with MongoDB and Redis
- Exposure to microservices architecture
- Fundamentals in data structures and algorithms
- Strong problem-solving ability and product thinking
- Ability to understand user and business problems
- Ability to break down ambiguous requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and propose practical solutions
- Ability to collaborate effectively
