Software Development Engineer in Test

Role Description:
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to develop and execute manual and automated tests to ensure product quality. Responsibilities include designing and implementing tests, debugging and defining corrective actions. You will also review system requirements and track quality assurance metrics (e.g. defect densities and open defect counts.). Our ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests before product launches to ensure software runs smoothly and meets client needs, while being cost-effective. If you hold an engineering background and enjoy predicting and therefore helping to prevent issues in software, we’d like to meet you.
Ultimately, you should be able to monitor all stages of software development to identify and resolve system malfunctions to meet quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases
Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities
Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools
Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
Perform functional and performance testing
Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
Use of AI for efficiency in achieving most responsibilities
Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet customer needs
Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements and gaps in requirements
Stay up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies
Candidate Profile / Key Skills:
Mandatory:
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
Strong Python development skills
A solid Unix background
Solid knowledge shell scripting: bash, ksh, sh
Hands-on experience with automated testing tools such as Robot Framework
Experience with source code management systems such as Git or CVS is a must
A.I. skills to implement testing for improved code coverage
Proven work experience in software quality assurance
Strong knowledge of SDLC
Nice to have:
Experience altering, building, running code written in C, C++, C# and/or Java is a plus
Experience with valgrind or JProfiler is a plus
Experience with wireshark, tcpdump or other network/protocol monitoring tools
General protocol knowledge, knowledge of middleware and/or networking principles is a plus
Experience with testing in AWS, CI/CD is a plus
Experience with encryption/decryption and proxy setup is a plus
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
Experience with test case management tools and bug/task tracking systems
Experience with Jira, Confluence, TestRail is a plus
Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
Hands-on experience with both white box, black box, functional, stress and load testing of products
Experience with performance and/or security testing is a plus
