Software Engineer designing and developing C++ and Python applications for mission-critical space and advanced engineering platforms across Windows and Linux. Salary: $140k - $160k + super

Your new role
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining C++ applications across Windows and Linux environments
- Supporting system integration, testing, verification, and validation activities
- Building software for real-time and distributed processing systems
- Enhancing visualisation tools and user-facing applications
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex software and system issues
- Contributing to DevOps initiatives, including CI/CD pipelines and automation
- Collaborating closely with engineering teams to deliver robust and scalable software solutions
- Driving continuous improvement across software quality, performance, and engineering practices
What you'll need to succeed
- At least 3 years' experience in software engineering or software development roles
- Strong commercial experience developing applications in C++
- Experience working across both Windows and Linux environments
- Python development experience for automation, scripting, or data processing
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and system testing
- Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical software systems
- Exposure to distributed processing and/or real-time systems
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and deployment automation
- Experience working with software that interfaces with hardware, firmware, or complex engineering systems
- User interface and visualisation tool development
- Scientific, observatory, defence, space, or advanced engineering environments
- Safety-critical systems and systems automation
