Software Engineer I, Storage
Build and operate cloud storage infrastructure, implement storage features, write tested and maintainable code, contribute to designs, participate in reviews and architecture discussions, grow distributed storage expertise, and collaborate on engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Implement well-scoped cloud storage features
- Write clean, tested, and maintainable code
- Contribute to feature design documentation
- Participate in testing and software rollout
- Give and receive code review feedback
- Participate in architecture and design discussions
- Build technical skills through mentorship, pairing, and collaboration
- Participate in tech talks, open-source exploration, and book clubs
Requirements
- Hands-on experience through internships, school projects, or approximately one year of professional work building or operating software systems
- Familiarity with coding standards, code reviews, source control, testing, and basic CI/CD or build processes
- Working knowledge of Java or Go
- Basic understanding of Linux fundamentals and computer architecture
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work closely with senior engineers
- Desire to learn storage systems and distributed computing
- Coursework, personal projects, or internship experience involving storage technologies or distributed systems is a bonus
- Exposure to NFS, SMB, iSCSI, or NVMe-oF is a bonus
- Basic understanding of networking concepts
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
