As an Software Engineer II, you will have a basic understanding of all software components for Abott. This role will design, develop, test, and maintain software components of moderate complexity with the general instruction from senior engineers and drive tasks to completion. This role will leverage well-developed professional and technical expertise to work collaboratively on cross-functional agile teams to deliver high quality software.

Working in our Software Engineering teams, you will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and sustaining software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. You will design and create engineering specifications for building software programs based on a broad knowledge of information systems and determine what development methodology to use after documenting software requirements.

What You’ll Work On

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrate basic theories, skills, and practices to accomplish work assignments of low to medium complexity.
  • Build defined features, investigate, and fix bugs, and write tests related to software components of moderate complexity with limited instructions for new projects and work provided by leadership.
  • Initiate independent software design with guidance from others. Participate in reviewing design alternatives, problems, and solutions.
  • Communicate status updates on individual project -based assignments to the project team.
  • Provide professional advice on decisions or actions that may impact the outcome of a task or workflow of the team/work group.
  • Build productive internal collaborative partnerships with peers, SMEs, and decision-makers.
  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering; or High School Diploma/General Education Degree and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience developing software with object-oriented code.
  • RESTful web services, Relational Databases (Postgres, SQL Server), and ORM technologies (JPA2, Hibernate, Entities Framework).
  • Designing and developing apps that access and or utilize cloud-based frameworks (e.g., Azure, Amazon AWS Services/SDKs, etc.).
  • Agile development tools; including, but not limited to, JIRA, Confluence repository.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Next Generation Sequencing data analysis tools and workflows.
  • Experience reading and writing object-oriented languages, such as Python, Java, Google Web Toolkit, .NET, or C++.

The base pay for this position is

$61,300.00 – $122,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
