Solution/Skills Architect (SA)

Implements tactical goals focused on software build, release, deployment, and configuration management, driving efficiency and scalability in application delivery. Optimizes CI/CD pipelines, automates deployment processes, and ensures seamless software integration. Manages large, multi-faceted software implementation projects and operational processes, overseeing release engineering, system configurations, and quality assurance initiatives. Coordinates cross-functional teams to execute strategic implementation plans while maintaining stability and performance across production environments. Works on complex applications delivery challenges that require deep evaluation of infrastructure dependencies, emerging technologies, and security compliance. Adapts existing deployment methodologies and introduces innovative solutions, making strategic departures from traditional approaches to optimize software rollout. Communicates effectively with senior management, advocating for streamlined implementation strategies and enhancing cross-functional collaboration. Strengthens relationships with senior internal and external partners, often persuading and educating stakeholders unfamiliar with technical deployment processes to drive alignment on software delivery best practices.

Avantor is looking for a Solution/Skills Architect (SA) is a strong technical/functional advisor who works closely with Skills Builder to define data analytics models, as well as the Decision Data Model in support of the skills workbench to enhance the Decision Intelligent skills catalog.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SAP functional/technical configurations, BI reporting, and data integration, with the ability to collaborate across architecture, development, and customer-facing teams. This role requires proficiency in Prompt Engineering for AI-assisted development, along with strong API integration knowledge and database experience.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate business and functional requirements into technical specification documents.

• Architect skills with all features and functions, ensuring all are designed and developed per business requirements.
• Prepare skill blueprints and detailed documentation for each associated skill.
• Responsible for testing and overall QA of the solution from a functional standpoint.
• Collaborate with Decision Architect and Skill Builders to aid development and testing of Decision Data Models and applications.
• Run and support meetings and workshops with prospects and customers, ranging from early discovery sessions to detailed final presentations.
• Ensure operational controls are maintained and perform operating control self-assessments as required.
  

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of AERA functional/technical or solutions architecture experience in a team-based environment.
• 2+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Experience with developing Dashboards and Reports using different BI tools.
• Proficient with functional and technical configurations around SAP ECC 6.0 or SCM 5.x or 7.x.
• Strong and hands-on knowledge of key integration points between multiple systems such as SAP ECC, SAP APO, SAP BW, SAP IBP, HANA, Reporting, etc.
• Strong team player, capable of working collaboratively within and across internal and customer teams.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Prompt Engineering for AI-assisted development workflows and automation.
• Strong API integration and consumption knowledge (RESTful/Web APIs) for solution design and connectivity.
• Ability to convert business needs into clear technical specifications and solution designs.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced Agile delivery environment.
• Strong communication skills with business users, QA teams, developers, and customer-facing teams.
• Strong documentation skills for skill blueprints, design specs, test results, and support procedures.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle, change control procedures, and production support best practices.
• Experience working with distributed teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

ADDED ADVANTAGE / PREFERRED SKILLS

• Working knowledge of function modules, structures, tables, BAPIs, and BADIs.

• Knowledge of data science methods and tools.
• Knowledge and experience working with In-Memory, MPP, column-oriented, and relational database management systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as ChatGPT Codex and Claude Cowork.
