Position Overview
The role of the Solutions Consultant is to demonstrate the value of the Payroll Metrics company and software to both prospective and existing customers. The role focuses on engaging with prospects to understand their needs and shaping tailored solutions that align with their business requirements.
This includes running discovery sessions, delivering product demos, supporting tender responses, and contributing to sales and marketing content. This is a fully autonomous position where you will run the full deal cycle. The consultant also plays a key role in relaying customer feedback to improve the product and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Ownership and autonomy of the customer sales experience:
New enquiries: Management of the sales inbox for new enquiries and quote requests.
RFP’s and Tenders: Respond to tender documents with accurate and timely responses. This involves co-ordinating with internal teams to gather information for the tender.
Discovery and Solution Design: Conduct discovery sessions with prospects to uncover business requirements, current processes, and pain points.
Solution Architecture: Translate discovery findings into fit-for-purpose solution designs that align Payroll Metrics capabilities with customer requirements, integration needs, compliance obligations, and overall business outcomes.
Product Demonstrations & Proposals: Prepare and deliver tailored product demonstrations to prospects across various industries and company sizes. Present the solution in a benefit focussed manner, accompanied by Statements of Work where required.
Customer pricing proposals: Prepare pricing proposals for the various customer types.
Collaborate and support Partner Companies: Provide support to software partners in their demonstrations and tenders when positioning a joint solution. Assist in training external presales and sales teams on Payroll Metrics product capabilities.
Develop sales and marketing materials, including videos, slides, flyers and case studies.
Share customer feedback on product gaps, feature requests and usability improvements with Product and Technical teams.
Maintain current product knowledge and an effective demonstration environment.
Ensure all activities meet and integrate with organisation requirements including; ongoing commitment to data security and service excellence, health and safety, legal stipulations, environment policies and general duty of care.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
2+ years of experience in pre-sales, solution consulting, implementation consulting or a similar software-focused role.
Experience in payroll, workforce management, time and attendance, rostering, HRIS or SaaS environments.
Strong customer engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility quickly and communicate with confidence.
Professional presentation style, with confidence running product demonstrations, discovery sessions and customer workshops.
Ability to understand customer processes and translate requirements into practical software capability and solution positioning.
Excellent attention to detail across written documentation, meeting notes, sales proposals and follow-up actions.
Desirable:
Commercial awareness and an understanding of how pre-sales contributes to winning business.
Experience supporting RFI, RFP or proposal responses.
Exposure to partner enablement, sales support or creation of customer-facing enablement materials.
Collaborative and proactive across sales, product, implementation, support and leadership teams.
Curious and continuous learner, able to build strong product, payroll and operational knowledge.
