The Sr Billing Operations Specialist provides advanced support for billing and client accounting functions within the insurance brokerage environment. This role ensures accurate invoicing, reconciliation, and compliance with client agreements and carrier requirements while handling more complex accounts and serving as a resource for junior team members. Operating with moderate autonomy, the incumbent applies judgment to resolve billing discrepancies, improve processes, and deliver a seamless client experience.

Primary Responsibilities
- Review and process invoices for complex accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual terms and brokerage standards.
- Exercise judgment in identifying and resolving billing discrepancies; collaborate with account managers, finance teams, and carriers to resolve issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate financial records in agency management and accounting systems; ensure adherence to internal controls and audit standards.
- Monitor receivables and assist in collections efforts for high-value or escalated accounts.
- Support audits and compliance reviews by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior billing specialists on processes and best practices.
- Recommend process improvements and assist in implementing workflow enhancements to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial transactions.
- Ability to interpret billing agreements and apply judgment to resolve discrepancies.
- Effective communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with accounting or agency management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field preferred.
- 2–4 years in billing, accounting, or insurance operations, with experience handling complex accounts.
