Staff Data Engineer - AI Platform
Operate and tune the StarRocks serving layer, build reliable data pipelines for government cloud investigations, reduce infrastructure single points of failure, and use AI-assisted debugging and log analysis to resolve production issues in a regulated environment.
Responsibilities
- Tune performance on the StarRocks serving layer
- Use AI-assisted query profiling to identify and fix slow query patterns
- Build and harden data pipelines for government cloud investigations
- Operate and troubleshoot the serving layer independently
- Reduce single points of failure in government cloud data infrastructure
- Use AI-assisted debugging and log analysis to triage production issues
- Respond to incidents and implement root-cause fixes
- Participate in production incident retrospectives and improve runbooks
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Experience operating distributed OLAP or serving-layer systems such as StarRocks, Trino, or ClickHouse
- Experience with query tuning and performance optimization at scale
- Experience owning data pipeline reliability and incident response
- Experience using Claude, Cursor, or similar AI tools for debugging, code review, and documentation
- Ability to independently operate unfamiliar production infrastructure
- Ability to take on-call responsibility with minimal oversight
