Staff Design Engineer

You will own and evolve complex reusable UI components within the design system and translate product needs into intuitive web interfaces. You will bring product-level thinking to everything you work on, balancing user needs, business context, and technical constraints. You will collaborate with designers, engineers, and product leads to solve ambiguous problems and raise the bar for quality through your approach to craft and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Work autonomously across web products, designing and building high-quality UI with a strong point of view on how it should feel and function.
• Own and evolve complex, reusable components within the Aave design system, setting the standard for quality and consistency.
• Bring product-level thinking to work by understanding user needs, business context, and technical constraints.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers, and product leads to bring clarity to ambiguous problems.
• Raise the bar for the team through the quality of your work and your approach to problem solving.

Requirements

• Be equally comfortable in Figma and a TypeScript codebase.
• Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, CSS, and system design and architecture.
• Deep experience with component-driven design systems and building for consistency at scale.
• Product sense to work without a detailed brief and identify what needs to be solved.
• Ability to translate complex UX problems, information-dense interfaces, multi-step flows, and edge cases into clear experiences.
• Curiosity about web3 and DeFi is a plus.
• Curiosity about AI and its use in product design and daily workflows.
