Staff R&D Data Engineer, Hardware Systems
Design and maintain structured data storage across R&D tools, integrate experimental, manufacturing, and QC data, build analysis and visualization tools, maintain data-acquisition software, perform statistical analyses, and partner with scientists and engineers on reliable data workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain structured data storage across R&D tools.
- Build analysis and visualization tools for R&D and pilot experiments.
- Program and maintain data-acquisition software for laboratory and pilot equipment.
- Run statistical and regression analyses connecting manufacturing, QC, and experimental data.
- Partner with scientists and engineers to translate data needs into tools and workflows.
- Help maintain IT infrastructure supporting R&D data systems.
Requirements
- BS/MS in engineering, physical science, computer science, data science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience with data in a hardware, laboratory, or physical-science R&D environment.
- Strength across data acquisition, infrastructure, pipelines, visualization, and statistical analysis.
- Track record establishing or improving data storage and analysis infrastructure.
- Expert SQL and Python proficiency, including pandas/NumPy, query optimization, and schema design.
- Experience with time-series and sensor data, including alignment, gap-filling, and schema reconciliation.
- Statistical and regression analysis experience with experimental data.
- Proficiency with at least one DAQ platform such as LabVIEW, DAQ Factory, or Ignition.
- Fluency using AI coding assistants with judgment to validate generated output.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently as the senior-most data professional.
