Staff Software Engineer, Middle Office
Serve as the technical anchor for Carta's Middle Office domain, owning its long-term technical health and strategic direction across distributed systems, Python/Django, React, Postgres, JVM languages, gRPC, and AWS.
Responsibilities
- Navigate complex and poorly defined technical problems.
- Identify and eliminate failure patterns across multiple systems.
- Drive architectural changes that improve scalability and reliability.
- Align multiple teams on major technical decisions.
- Define safe and effective AI tool usage practices.
- Set the vision for operational excellence.
- Mentor senior engineers.
Requirements
- Expertise in building distributed systems.
- Comfort guiding technical direction across Python/Django, React, Postgres, JVM languages, gRPC, and AWS cloud-native infrastructure.
- Ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
- Constructive communication and technical discipline.
- Ability to anticipate future roadblocks and design systems for long-term growth.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Track record of high-level technical leadership.
