Tech Lead, Device Automation & QA
Own software quality for device platforms as the independent verification and final release gate. Lead QA strategy and hiring, manage builds and releases, design automated test fleets and hardware-in-the-loop systems, operate infrastructure across devices and backend services, automate testing, define quality benchmarks, manage fleet operations, investigate field issues, and improve coverage and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Own the automation and QA strategy for device software.
- Recruit and hire QA team members.
- Manage builds and releases, including scheduling, readiness reviews, and release notes.
- Design and evolve automated test fleets, test stations, and hardware-in-the-loop systems.
- Architect and operate infrastructure across devices, backend services, CI/CD pipelines, and fleet tooling.
- Automate regression, smoke, and nightly test workflows.
- Define quality benchmarks and test strategies.
- Automate test deployment, updates, and CI-triggered execution.
- Monitor and troubleshoot test failures.
- Investigate and reproduce field issues.
- Improve test coverage, execution speed, and system reliability.
Requirements
- Hands-on software and hardware debugging experience.
- Experience designing or owning large-scale automation systems and test-device fleets.
- Ability to write and review high-quality test code.
- Experience building reusable test frameworks and libraries.
- Ability to read production firmware and software code.
- Experience with test infrastructure, hardware-in-the-loop systems, CI/CD, and fleet management.
- Comfort setting direction amid ambiguity.
