Technical Support & Programming Engineer
Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Programming & Automation Systems: Programming, configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting, modification, and maintenance of automation and lighting control systems including Crestron, Lutron, Philips Dynalite, and other systems represented, supplied, or supported by the company.
- AV & DSP Systems: Configuration, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of DSPs, audio processors, amplifiers, AV equipment, control interfaces, and other related audio-visual systems.
- CCTV & Security Systems: Configuration and commissioning of NVRs, cameras, recording systems, access control, security systems, and other associated ELV equipment.
- ICT & Network Support: Configuration and troubleshooting of network-related equipment required for ELV and automation systems, including IP addressing, network connectivity, switches, VLAN coordination, and communication between integrated systems.
- Software Development: Development, modification, testing, backup, documentation, and maintenance of the software and programming required for the systems delivered by the company.
- Testing & Commissioning: Carry out system testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, performance verification, snag rectification, and final handover of assigned systems.
- Installation Coordination: Coordinate closely with the project and installation teams to ensure that installation works are executed in accordance with the approved design, manufacturer requirements, and programming/commissioning requirements.
- Second-Fix Site Inspections: Attend project sites during second-fix activities to verify equipment installation, cabling, termination, network readiness, addressing, and other requirements before programming and commissioning.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, communication, network, integration, and configuration issues both remotely and on site.
- System Integration: Support and execute integration between different systems and protocols where required, including automation, lighting control, AV, BMS, HVAC, security, and other third-party systems.
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain operation manuals, programming documentation, configuration records, testing and commissioning reports, system backups, IP schedules, credentials records, and handover documentation for completed projects.
- On-Site Technical Support: Provide technical support during installation, testing, commissioning, client demonstrations, handover, and the defects liability/warranty period as required.
- Maintenance & Service: Attend preventive and corrective maintenance visits, service calls, troubleshooting visits, and emergency technical support when assigned by the company.
- Client & Consultant Support: Attend technical meetings, demonstrations, inspections, and discussions with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers when required.
- Training & Development: Attend technical training, certification programs, manufacturer training, seminars, or other professional development activities that the company considers beneficial or necessary for its operations. The employee is expected to actively develop his technical knowledge and maintain competency in the systems and technologies assigned to him.
- Knowledge Transfer: Maintain proper documentation and backups of all developed programs and configurations and ensure that all project software, passwords, configuration files, source codes, and technical information are properly handed over and stored according to company procedures.
- Other Technical Duties: Undertake other reasonable technical, engineering, programming, commissioning, and support duties related to the company’s activities as may be assigned from time to time.
- The position requires flexibility between office-based programming and engineering activities, remote technical support, and on-site attendance, depending on project and operational requirements.
- All software, source code, configuration files, drawings, documentation, databases, system credentials, programming work, and other technical material developed or produced as part of your employment shall remain the property of the company and shall be maintained and handed over in accordance with company procedures.
Skills
Required Skills
- Strong experience in programming, configuration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of Automation, AV, ICT, Security, and ELV systems.
- Proficiency in Crestron, Lutron, Philips Dynalite, and other lighting control and automation platforms.
- Knowledge of AV systems, DSPs, audio processors, amplifiers, control interfaces, and AV equipment.
- Good understanding of CCTV, NVR, Access Control, Security, and ELV systems.
- Strong knowledge of IP networking, IP addressing, switches, VLANs, network connectivity, and system communication.
- Experience in system integration between Automation, Lighting Control, AV, BMS, HVAC, Security, and other third-party systems.
- Ability to perform technical troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, system modification, and software configuration.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation.
- Experience in site inspections, second-fix verification, testing, commissioning, snag rectification, and project handover.
- Ability to prepare programming documentation, configuration records, IP schedules, testing & commissioning reports, backups, and handover documents.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to provide remote and on-site technical support and coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project teams.
- Willingness to attend manufacturer training, technical certifications, and professional development programs.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a project and engineering team.
