Technical Support Officer (Science Laboratory)
Science
• Prepare experimental setups for all lab activities andtrial the experiments and modify the experiments, when required, prior to theScience curriculum/enrichment lessons and Science CCA.
• Prepare additional apparatus for teachers who wish tocarry out additional Science activities and be on hand to help out duringScience Workshops conducted by the school.
• Assist with the purchase of materials required forexperiments for both Science curriculum lessons/enrichment and Science CCA inalignment with budget requirements.
• Ensure and maintain the cleanliness of the two ScienceLabs.
• Conduct stock-taking of all apparatus and resourcesbelonging to the Science department at least twice a year.
• Maintain a logbook for entry of classes into and out ofthe Science labs.
• Maintain a logbook for entry of any broken/condemnation ofapparatus and chemicals for the Science labs.
• Preparation of the Outdoor and Indoor Hydroponics/UrbanFarming Facility for planting and harvesting followed by cleaning of thefacility in preparation for the next harvest.
• Monitoring of the Science Ecological Gardens and assist inreplacement of plants where required.
• Maintenance of the Laboratory Aquariums (which includesthe change of water and assist in replacement of plants and livestock whererequired).
Makerspace
• Prepare materials and tools required for makerspace recessactivities and workshops
• Manage and maintain makerspace equipment, including 3Dprinters, digital cutters and other tools.
• Provide technical support and assistance to makerspaceusers regarding equipment operation and troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environmentwithin the makerspace.
Others
• Support in miscellaneous administrative school mattersrequired by the HOD/LH Science/School Admin.
• May also be deployed to help otherdepartments in the school or school events/activities, should the need arise.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
• An ‘O’ Level qualification and basic knowledge of IT applications (e.g. MS Word and Excel).
• Able to multi-task and able to handle a fast paced environment.
• Preferably at least 3 years of working experience in a school environment and have some basic knowledge of laboratory, chemicals and apparatus.
• Candidates without relevant school experience but who possess comparable skills and qualifications will also be considered.
