Are you an experienced manual Test Engineer with strong hands-on manual testing experience?

We’re looking for a Test Engineer to join a Christchurch-based technology team on a 6-month contract. You’ll work within a collaborative Agile environment, helping deliver reliable, customer-focused software through practical, thorough testing.

This role will suit someone who is detail-oriented, curious and confident working across functional, regression, exploratory and end-to-end testing.

What you’ll be doing:

Working as part of an Agile delivery team, you’ll be involved throughout the testing lifecycle and will:
  • Perform functional, regression, exploratory and end-to-end testing.
  • Create, execute and maintain test cases and test scenarios.
  • Test web applications and investigate issues using browser Developer Tools.
  • Perform API testing using Postman or similar tools.
  • Identify, reproduce, document and track defects through to resolution.
  • Clearly communicate testing progress, results, blockers and risks.
  • Support testing across software releases.
  • Work closely with developers, testers, designers and product stakeholders.
  • Identify risks, edge cases and potential quality issues.
What we’re looking for:

You’ll bring practical software testing or quality assurance experience and a strong understanding of testing fundamentals.

You’ll ideally have:
  • Strong hands-on manual testing experience.
  • Experience testing web applications.
  • Experience creating and maintaining test cases and test scenarios.
  • Experience documenting and tracking defects using JIRA or a similar tool.
  • Experience using browser Developer Tools to investigate issues.
  • API testing experience using Postman or similar.
  • Experience working within a Scrum, Kanban or similar Agile environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A practical, curious and detail-oriented approach.
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within an established team.
Highly desirable:
  • Exposure to UI or API test automation, particularly Playwright or Postman.
  • Experience with Git and GitHub.
  • Database querying and validation using SQL Server, Postgres or similar.
  • Python, TypeScript or another language used for test automation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD environments such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • Mobile application testing across iOS or Android.
  • ISTQB, QAI, CSTE, CSQA or CAST certification.
