Trading Manager
Job Description
- Originate, negotiate, and execute cement and clinker trading deals with suppliers, buyers, and trading counterparties
- Manage the full trade cycle: contract negotiation, documentation, shipment scheduling, and settlement
- Coordinate closely with shipowners, charterers, and freight brokers to secure competitive freight and optimize vessel utilization
- Oversee shipping operations including vessel nomination, laycan management, loading/discharge coordination, and demurrage/laytime calculations
- Handle import and export documentation, customs compliance, letters of credit, and other trade finance instruments
- Plan and schedule shipments and deliveries to align with production, inventory, and customer commitments
- Monitor market trends, pricing, and freight rates to identify trading opportunities and manage risk exposure
- Build and maintain trading reports, P&L trackers, and market data analysis using Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, dashboards)
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (finance, logistics, production, legal) to ensure smooth trade execution
- Manage relationships with existing counterparties while actively developing new trading partners and markets
Requirements
- Minimum [3-5] years of experience in cement, clinker, or related bulk commodity trading
- Proven track record in physical commodity trading, ideally in dry bulk / building materials
- Solid understanding of shipping and chartering operations (dry bulk vessels preferred)
- Hands-on experience with import/export processes, trade documentation, and customs regulations
- Experience with letters of credit, bills of lading, and other standard trade finance instruments
