About the Inbound Business Development Representative – SMB SaaS: MarketStar is looking for an Inbound Business Development Representative to support our growing SaaS client team in Salt Lake City. In this role, you will be the strategic front line for incoming demand, engaging prospective small-to-midsize business (SMB) customers who have expressed direct interest through web forms, live chat, inbound calls, and product trial sign-ups. Your core focus is conducting rapid discovery, assessing technical and operational fit, conveying the value of the software suite, and converting inbound interest into qualified sales opportunities and revenue.

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

What Will You Do?

  • Respond swiftly to inbound inquiries, trial users, and chat requests to qualify prospect interest, authority, and buying timelines.

  • Conduct structured discovery discussions with SMB decision-makers to evaluate business workflows and position relevant SaaS capabilities.

  • Manage rapid-cycle transactional deals directly or stage qualified pipeline for closing reps depending on account size and scope.

  • Execute multi-touch follow-up cadences via phone and email for inbound leads requiring nurturing or secondary qualification.

  • Maintain rigorous CRM data integrity by tracking lead status, contact details, qualification notes, and conversion milestones.

  • Track and report weekly pipeline metrics, forecast attainment, and activity volume to sales leadership.

  • Partner with marketing and client program teams to provide direct feedback on inbound lead quality, customer objections, and campaign effectiveness.

  • Stay current on product updates, competitive differentiators, and industry use cases through ongoing enablement.

What Will You Need to Succeed?

  • 1+ years of experience in inbound sales, business development, or lead qualification, ideally within B2B SaaS, Cloud, or tech services.

  • Clear, consultative communication skills across phone, email, and digital messaging channels.

  • Ability to quickly diagnose prospect workflows and articulate technical value propositions to non-technical buyers.

  • Strong pipeline management and organization skills with a consistent track record of hitting activity and qualification quotas.

  • High adaptability and coachability to implement sales framework coaching and handle objections effectively.

  • Proficiency with modern sales stacks, including CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), sales engagement software, and Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant business or sales certifications are a plus.
