Senior Manager, Treaty Reinsurance
The Reinsurance Manager is responsible for the design, placement, and ongoing management of the company’s reinsurance program, including both treaty and facultative reinsurance. The role ensures effective risk transfer, capital efficiency, and protection of the company’s balance sheet, while maintaining strong relationships with reinsurers and brokers, and supporting governance processes at senior management and Board level.
- Develop and execute the company’s reinsurance strategy in line with underwriting and capital objectives
- Structure, negotiate, and place treaty and facultative reinsurance programs
- Manage relationships with reinsurers and brokers to ensure optimal terms and market access
- Monitor reinsurance program performance, including pricing adequacy, recoveries, and counterparty exposure
- Analyze portfolio exposures and accumulation risks (NatCat, large risks, etc.)
- Work closely with underwriting teams to support risk selection and capacity deployment
- Ensure timely and accurate reinsurance placements for key risk
- Oversee reinsurance documentation, slips, contracts, and wordings
- Manage reinsurance recoveries and support claims processes
- Provide regular reporting to senior management on reinsurance effectiveness and portfolio performance
- Prepare and present reinsurance reports and proposals to the Risk Committee
- Develop Board-level materials and support presentations to the Board of Directors, including obtaining necessary approvals for reinsurance strategy and structures
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field
- 5–10 years of experience in reinsurance, underwriting, or insurance portfolio management
- Strong understanding of treaty and facultative reinsurance structures
- Proven experience in negotiations with reinsurers and brokers
- Familiarity with insurance markets; regional (e.g. APAC) experience is an advantage but not mandatory
