Senior Software Engineer
Summary
Senior C#/.NET engineer at Rocket India leading architecture, mentoring engineers, and setting engineering standards for mortgage platforms. Day-to-day work involves designing complex distributed systems on Azure, enforcing code quality and observability practices, and driving production incident response.
At Rocket India, senior engineers don't just build software — they set the standard for how software gets built. We're looking for an experienced C#/.NET engineer who leads through expertise, elevates everyone around them, and treats technical excellence as a daily discipline rather than an occasional aspiration. You'll be the person the team turns to when the problem is complex, the stakes are high, and the path forward isn't obvious. If you're ready to own architectural decisions, champion quality at scale, and mentor the next generation of engineers — all while shipping features that power homeownership for millions — this role was made for you.
About the Role
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead design and implementation of complex features and systems in C#/.NET with minimal oversight
- Partner with product and architecture teams on feasibility assessments, technical tradeoffs, and execution sequencing
- Identify architectural risks and technical debt — including legacy .NET Framework migrations — and propose and drive remediation efforts
- Influence technical direction across the team without formal authority, building consensus through expertise and collaboration
Engineering Excellence & Standards
- Set and enforce engineering best practices across the team, including unit/integration testing, code review standards, and observability
- Establish observability standards using App Insights, Dynatrace, and other monitoring tools to ensure production visibility
- Champion code quality through design reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Drive adoption of security best practices including OAuth/AuthHub patterns and secure coding standards
Team Development & Mentorship
- Mentor Software Engineer I and II team members, providing guidance on technical growth and career development
- Review designs and code across the team, offering constructive feedback and meaningful knowledge sharing
- Support junior engineers in solving complex technical problems and building system design skills
- Foster a culture of learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement
Production Excellence & Incident Management
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for critical production issues
- Drive resolution of high-impact production problems with urgency and precision
- Implement preventative measures and share learnings across the team to strengthen overall system resilience
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5–8+ years of professional software development experience with deep expertise in C#/.NET
- Proven track record of leading technical design and architecture decisions
- Experience mentoring and developing other engineers
- Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction without formal authority
- Strong system design skills with focus on scalability, reliability, and security
- Expertise with distributed systems architecture and patterns
- Experience with message queues (SQS/Service Bus) and asynchronous processing
- Deep knowledge of Azure-native services and cloud architecture
- Security expertise including OAuth/AuthHub patterns and secure authentication flows
- Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools (App Insights, Dynatrace)
- Advanced knowledge of ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and related technologies
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps) and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities
- Strategic thinking and ability to balance technical excellence with business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading technical initiatives that span multiple teams or service areas
- Track record of successfully migrating legacy systems to modern .NET architectures
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture and domain-driven design principles
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Background in mortgage, financial services, or another regulated industry
- Contributions to open-source projects or internal engineering community initiatives
- Experience with performance engineering and optimization at enterprise scale
- Proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical risks before they become blockers
